BOUDIN/SF clam chowder on Jamboree/Main Street - Manager is Awesome - however, the CLAM CHOWDER that they claim they are best known for it doesn’t have any CLAM pieces in it. BTW, if you decide to get in anyway, then get the clam chowder without the BREAD BOWL, in just a regular bowl, save a BUCK!

June 9th, 2009

Seriously, after complaining about the chowder not having any clam pieces, I ordered 4 more bowls, and only 2 out of the 4 new bowls I purchased had 4-5 pieces of clams (small pieces), and mostly potatoes and soup chowder sauce.

Helicopter flying over Irvine Spectrum, hovering over in circles, with the police department having no clue about this??? - did they know about this or not? What was the helicopter circling over, and then after 30 minutes, heads West bound towards Costa Mesa/HuntingtonBeach/LA direction? - Any Explanation?

Case needs to be handled properly: Lawyer: Suspect in deadly Ferrari crash remorseful

A repeat drunken driver accused of causing the death of a mixed martial arts entrepreneur in a high-speed crash is remorseful about the accident, his defense attorney said today.

Jeffrey David Kirby, 51, of Costa Mesa is charged with four felonies, including vehicular manslaughter, in the death of Charles David Lewis, Jr., one of the founders of the company TapouT.

The crash happened March 11. Police said Kirby, who runs an audio-visual business, crashed his Porsche into Lewis’ Ferrari, while both of them were speeding on Jamboree Road in Newport Beach.

Lewis – a Huntington Beach resident who called himself “Mask” – died in the crash. His Ferrari was split in two after it jumped a curb and ran into a cement light pole. A passenger in Lewis’ car, Lacy Lynn White, suffered injuries after being ejected from the Ferrari.

Kirby, who has two earlier drug-driving convictions, is alleged to have fled the scene. Prosecutors say he registered a 0.13 blood-alcohol level two hours after the crash.

“He feels badly,’’ said Kirby’s attorney David Swanson. “He is very remorseful about what happened (to Lewis and White).”

Swanson declined to give details on Kirby’s actions the night of the crash.

Investigators have said they found receipts in Kirby’s wallet that indicated he was drinking earlier that evening at two bars in San Juan Capistrano and Irvine.

Kirby, who is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at Orange County Jail, entered his plea at Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.

His next court appearance is June 12 for a pretrial hearing.

O.C. sheriff’s official charged with DUI in Irvine accident

May 30th, 2009

A ranking Orange County sheriff’s official has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol after causing a car accident in Irvine.

Irvine police arrested Lt. Erin Lorraine Guidice, 48, last month after the vehicle she was driving crashed into the back of another car stopped at a red light on Jamboree Road.

She was driving an unmarked Orange County Sheriff’s Department vehicle at the time, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office, which filed the charges Thursday.

Irvine police said Guidice had slurred speech, bloodshot and watery eyes and had trouble keeping her balance during a sobriety test. She had a blood alcohol level of 0.14%, or nearly twice the legal limit, authorities said.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

After the accident, Guidice was transferred from her post as head of the Orange County sheriff’s Harbor Patrol to a position at the county’s Theo Lacy Jail.

If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail. She is scheduled to be arraigned next month.
